The Puthrans :: Indianapolis Portrait Photographer

Anyone who follows this blog or reads the "Artist" section on my website, knows I love kids. Anyone who really knows me knows I covet quality family time and may be borderline prideful about the relationships I have with my own children. Having openly admitted this, I must say that it was these same tendencies that made this shoot such a blast. The moments I boast about wanting to capture were easy and natural with the Puthran family. You can’t help but watch them and feel that they have a genuine respect and enjoyment of one another. Just glancing at these shots, you see the kids connecting and delighting in their parents. You get the sense of big brother loving on his little sis and you know it wasn’t for the sake of my camera. Thanks for a great afternoon, Puthrans! Enjoy a couple of my favorites AND the slideshow below!

Out with the old... IN WITH THE NEW!!!

As I look into the year ahead, there are a lot of exciting changes happening for my family and photography business.  One of the most exciting is my new website--to be released within the month.  It's going to look unique compared to my current one (and many other sites out there that follow the same template), but more importantly, it's going to allow the friends and families of my brides and grooms to have a sneak peek into their lives.  You'll have to wait to see it, but for now, here's a snapshot of my homepage.

Another tradition--my amazing wife thought of--is to use our Christmas tree after the holidays to display our hopes, dreams, and goals.   We loved having the tree in the house and weren't ready to recycle it yet, so we thought we'd keep it up for a while.  What better way to utilize it? It gives us greater permanence to the "New Year's Resolutions" and the kids really enjoyed dreaming the ideas.  We all jotted down our thoughts on homemade, recycled paper ornaments.  It causes us to stop every day and think about what we're doing to try to make them happen.  One of mine is to exercise more often, which is being driven by my signing up to run the Indy Mini and a training group to help hold me accountable.  Running isn't something I enjoy much, so I'm looking forward to the joy of such an achievement!  What are you doing today to reach an important goal in your life?  Who can hold you accountable?

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

My hope is that everyone had a joyful and relaxing Thanksgiving this year surrounded by good friends and family! I was blessed to have spent some great time with my relatives, especially my grandfather who was a wedding photographer many years ago. Today he blessed me with all of his old cameras that he used during his days. I'll be sure to share them with you all later.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Halloween is always a blast... even as an adult! Each year we go over to my sister's to hit up her neighbors for some goodies. (They have a much bigger neighborhood!) My favorite part about the night was the way my daughter Libby "tricked" others into giving her more candy.

Sweets are very limited in our household and we decided that when we got back home and poured out all the goods, the kids could each pick out their top ten favorites and we'd send the rest overseas to the soldiers. Libby used this to her advantage to increase her odds on getting the goods. She would tell a bunch of givers how we were sending a bunch over to the soldiers and they'd tell her to grab a big handful then. Why didn't I think of that when I was a kid?!

Our children do have generous hearts and she really was doing it for them. If only we all thought like children at times! Anyway, here's a slideshow of the gang out in the hood. Enjoy!
